In the province of Grosseto, in the municipality of Capalbio, at approx. two and a half hours drive from Agriturismo I Pitti, there is a truly unique art park, which is worth a visit, perhaps combined with a break of several hours at the seaside. It is the Tarot Garden, created by artist Niki de Saint Phalle made by giant sculptures, from 12 to 15 meters high, representing the 22 major arcana of the tarots.
The garden, perfectly nestled in the hills of Maremma, is a veritable outdoor museum, unique in the world, with great charm that draws the viewer into a fantasy world.
The artist Niki de Saint Phalle has worked on this masterpiece of environmental art from 1980 to 1996, while the opening to the public was in 1998.
The Garden is currently managed by the foundation of the Tarot Garden, a private foundation intended by the artist herself who has the task of managing the park and ensure the constant maintenance it needs.
The park is open from April 1 to October 15 from 2.30 to 7.30 pm.
The price of admission is 12 Euro.
Reduced price for students and over 65 is 7 Euro.
Children under 7 years and disabled: free admission.
From January to March and November to December, the first Saturday in the month, from 9 am to 1 pm, the park’s founder Niki de Saint Phalle has decided to grant all visitors free entry. If this Saturday falls on a public holiday, the Giardino will open the following Saturday.
